Cam Site Safety Checklist: 5 Minutes Before You Start
A practical checklist for using cam sites without regretting it. Five minutes of setup before your first session prevents most of the problems people run into.
Before you create an account
- Check the address bar. Lookalike domains exist. Reach the site through a link you trust, not a search ad.
- Choose a username with no history. Nothing you have used on social media, gaming or email. Assume it is public forever.
- Use a separate email address. Takes a minute, cleanly separates this from everything else.
- Set a unique password. Never one you use elsewhere. A password manager makes this free.
- Enable two-factor if offered. Your account holds a token balance, which makes it worth stealing.
Before you spend anything
- Watch for an evening first. Public rooms are free. Work out what you actually enjoy before paying to find out.
- Check the billing descriptor. Know what will appear on your statement before it appears.
- Work out your effective token rate. Package price divided by tokens. Write it down.
- Decide a budget and buy exactly that. The token balance is the budget, not your bank balance.
- Do not save a card if top-ups are a risk for you. Friction is a feature here.
During a session
- Keep your camera off unless you have decided otherwise. It is off by default; leave it there until you mean it.
- Never click links pasted in chat. No legitimate request needs one.
- Never install anything. Browser only. There are no exceptions to this.
- Refuse all off-site payment. Transfers, gift cards, crypto, "my other site" — all of it. On-platform payments are the only ones with any protection.
- Do not share identifying details. Employer, city, schedule, surname. Fine to be friendly, unnecessary to be locatable.

- Check what is renewing. Fan club subscriptions are easy to forget and easy to cancel.
- Review your spend against what you intended. The gap is the useful number.
- Clear old sessions if you use shared devices.
If something goes wrong
Use the site's report function — it exists and it works, and established platforms remove performers who breach rules. For a billing problem, contact support before your bank; a chargeback can close your account permanently and is a worse outcome than a refund. If someone attempts blackmail, do not pay, do not reply, capture what you can, and report it.
